Aire Logic is at the Agile forefront of driving innovation across healthcare, creating solutions that have an immediate impact on user experience.

The services we offer

Aire Logic is at the forefront of driving innovation across healthcare, creating solutions that have an immediate impact on user experience. Combining bespoke software development, data analytics and interoperable systems, we solve complex challenges and create easy to use solutions.

As a leading UK healthcare technology company we help private healthcare companies scale at pace whilst incorporating industry best practice and meeting internationally recognised standards.

The Services we offer on the left hand side are of course relevant to you as a Private Healthcare Provider and our NHS customers.  Choosing the right IT systems, helping with overall IT strategy, developing and delivering specific projects and transforming your healthcare services.  In addition and specifically for Private Healthcare we can assist with:

Data Services

We understand that as part of the Acute Data Alignment Programme (ADAPt) you might wish to provide a regular feed of private healthcare APC data from PHIN to NHS England. We can assist you with your data strategy, delivery of the data work and troubleshooting to quickly identify any areas for improvement.

Interoperability

In order to support your delivery of an efficient interoperability strategy, Aire Logic provides an agile methodology to ensure your IT solutions are the right fit for your customers to deliver efficient patient care. We recognise that having systems in your organisation, and with your partner organisations that integrate efficiently is crucial to your company's success. We provide an expert team who are highly experienced working at a national level delivering projects such as APIM, and equally at home in a hospital team working across all the key Trust Integration Engines. Our team can consist of Business Analysts, developers, workflow analysis from data engineers, use case design and change management where required.

Developers on this project have shone. The difference from the start of the project is phenomenal.

Challenges and solutions

Demand and Projections

Demand for private healthcare is increasing rapidly, with a 32% increase above pre Covid numbers. With longer NHS waiting times, PMI is now a necessary rather than a luxury for a growing number of people, with both self funding options and employer funding work perks.

Pricing and Packaging

With the rise in demand for PMI comes changing opportunities and challenges for the UK healthcare market. Designing and implementing an effective pricing and packaging strategy is instrumental for business growth and increasing market share in the growing self pay market.

Ways of Working

The shortage of healthcare professionals isn’t just affecting the NHS, but all healthcare markets. There are common inefficiencies across all organisations and Aire Logic are experts at unravelling these challenges. Challenges we are frequently presented with include; attraction in a competitive market, high administrative demands and costs, lack of data to support clinical decision making, duplication of tasks, high DNA/ cancellations, too much manual process and not enough automation, poor integration across different systems, both within the private hospital and with the NHS.

Modernisation of our EHR platform and unlocking the power of data using openEHR is a key part of the strategy to advance cancer research. This partnership (with Aire Logic) will provide us with industry leading expertise to expand our talented in-house software engineering team.

Case study

Public Health England

Radically new interoperability for Public Health England by modernising technology platforms for screening services. Bridging the gap between business needs and technical decision making.

Overview

PHE wanted to modernise their screening services technology platforms. Numerous different screening services were being managed using different IT systems, multiplying costs and reducing agility
and evolvability of the services.

PHE needed to devise a completely new approach that was efficient and future proof.

Solution

We supported the design of a new enterprise architecture for screening services, assessing each of the current services utilising our Enterprise Architecture capabilities method called EA Light to establish the current state and the move to a comprehensive and ratified target architecture.

Following a detailed analysis of the current business processes and establishing touch points with other systems, highlighting common processes across all services, we created an IT strategy that subdivided problems, allowed for prioritisation of effort and agile delivery.

Results

Provided delivery support of the screening architecture across a number of programmes the the ability to support brand new screening services without having to initialise new systems or processes.

The resulting strategy delivers a streamlined, enhanced technical architecture that will enable PHE to realise efficiencies and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Case study

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

Overview

In January 2019, Aire Logic was engaged to do a review of the primary hospital EPR system - Clinical Web Portal (CWP), developed in-house over many years, primarily by a skilled clinician who had also learned to code.

Whilst CWP had rich functionality that suited the Trust and liked by the hospital clinicians, Overall the Trust recognised that further expansion of features and capability on the monolithic, legacy technology stack would compound the technical debt, expose the Trust to risks around key individuals and would ultimately not scale from a resilience, maintenance, security, clinical safety and flexibility perspective.

Solution

We provided a report that assessed the technology and architecture of the legacy CWP application using the Architectural Trade-off Assessment Method (ATAM), establishing the main features and non-functional requirements.

We recommended a strangler pattern to gradually replace capability in CWP with a modern (cloud ready) web technology stack whilst maintaining high availability of CWP, support the delivery of existing roadmap feature, whilst minimising clinical risks.

Following the ATAM report, we supported the technical delivery of the project with a highly skilled adaptable team adjusting to meet the needs of the Trust and CWP modernisation project, as well as provide expert healthcare consultants to deliver the discovery phase for future strands of work such as ePMA, Patient Comms & Triage & Referrals.

Results
  • Replacing vulnerable legacy authentication with a modern, industry standard that allowed clinicians to use their pre-existing credentials.
  • Wrapping the legacy session state management solution to allow the new parts of the application to stay in-sync with the old.
  • Deploying a significant user interface update that now acts as the primary application, hosting aspects of the legacy application in an iFrame.
  • Currently on the path-to-live is the first clinical use-case (PROMS) for a low-code, OpenEHR aligned forms engine backed by the new OpenEHR clinical persistence.
