Day in the life of a Business Analyst and Product Owner
We interviewed Jack to see what a normal working day involves at Aire Logic as a Business Analyst / Product Owner.
How to get ready to start my day?
I start my day by taking my 8-month old Airedale Terrier Lady out for a walk in my beautiful picturesque village of Embsay, Skipton. After getting some fresh air to start the day, I make a cup of tea and take a look at my diary to see what meetings I have planned for the day.
What is a typical working day like?
Since starting at Aire Logic, there isn’t a day that goes by that’s the same. Every day is challenging but it reaps the rewards knowing how we are changing people's lives. My first meeting of the day is stand-up where we run through our project board looking at any blockers and how the work is progressing with the development team. I work on the National Booking Service of the Covid Vaccinations Programme and my role is split into Business Analyst and Product Ownership. My typical day consists of working closely with key stakeholders such as Technical Architects, Testers, Developers, Product Managers and of course our end users to ensure we are delivering the changes from our product backlog.
As my role is a hybrid mixed between a Business Analysis and Product Owner, part of my day could be running workshops to gather requirements and writing tickets to make changes to our software, the other part of the day might be backlog refinement looking at what needs prioritising and those items that need bringing into development.
What do I enjoy about my role?
I have always been passionate about healthcare and technology, after finishing my university degree I knew I wanted to work in health tech. The best thing about my role is knowing how the impact of such changes, significant or small, can benefit our users to make the process of administering a vaccine as simple as possible. Apart from the amazing work our team does, I enjoy working with people from all walks of life with different skill sets who you can bounce ideas off and learn lots from.
What do you like most about working for Aire Logic?
I wouldn’t normally boast about my job, however working for Aire Logic has been like no other. Aire Logic is a fantastic company to work for, its employees are at the heart of everything. Also, with it being an employee owned company this means your say matters and you feel valued. Aire Logic provides a range of benefits but the one that I value the most is “Airetime.” You can use this time to further develop your skills and the company will fully fund and support you to do additional training and courses to help you on your career journey.
